R-W Rankweil W vs Kraig
RANKWEIL, Austria (Interstat) — R-W Rankweil W will host Kraig on Sunday, May 3, in a 2. Frauenliga contest that pits the home side’s desperation against a visiting team trying to regain form.
Rankweil enters the match at the bottom of the second-tier Austrian women’s table with only two wins in league play this season. The squad lost 2-0 at SPG Geretsberg W on April 26, extending a streak of six defeats in seven games. Rankweil’s only bright spot in that stretch was a 1-0 victory at Saalfelden W on April 19. However, the club has been outscored 13-2 in its last three home matches, including an 8-0 thrashing by Krottendorf W on April 5.
Kraig sits mid-table and arrives after a narrow 1-0 loss at Wack Innsbruck W on April 26. That result snapped a three-game unbeaten run that included a 5-2 win at SPG Geretsberg W on April 4 and a 1-0 victory at Gmünd on April 18. Still, Kraig has been inconsistent on the road, losing four of its last eight away games.
The teams last met on Oct. 12, 2025, when Kraig posted a 2-0 home victory. That result is part of a larger trend: Kraig has won four of the past five head-to-head encounters, with Rankweil’s only win in that span coming in 2024.
Both sides have struggled offensively. Rankweil has scored just nine goals all season, the lowest in the league, while Kraig has managed 18. Defensively, Rankweil has conceded 42 goals, second-worst in the division, compared to Kraig’s 28.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-2 draw, a result that would feel like a moral victory for the home side. A win for Rankweil would lift it off the bottom, while Kraig seeks to climb within striking distance of the top five.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time at Stadion Rankweil.
