AVRANCHES, France (Interstat) — Avranches M-S-M hosts Aviron Bayonnais on Saturday in a National 2 matchup that could tighten the race in the French fourth division. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. local time.

The two sides last met Dec. 12, 2025, when Bayonnais earned a 2-1 home victory. In the earlier fixture, Avranches struck first but could not hold the lead.

Avranches enters the contest off a 2-1 road win over Montlouis on April 18. The victory snapped a two-match losing streak for the home side, which had fallen 1-0 at Dinan Lehon on April 11 after a 4-2 win at Lorient on April 4. Avranches has shown scoring punch at times, posting five goals against Saumur on Feb. 7 and three against Les Herbiers on Jan. 30, but has also been held scoreless in four of its last 10 outings, including a 0-0 draw at Stade Poitevin on March 6.

Bayonnais comes in riding a two-match winning streak. The visitors beat Les Herbiers 2-1 on April 17, following a 0-0 draw with US Granville on April 12. Bayonnais has been stingy defensively, allowing one goal or fewer in six of its last seven matches. Its only loss in that span was a 2-1 defeat at Montlouis on April 4. Bayonnais has recorded six clean sheets over its last 10 games, though its attack has been inconsistent — the team has scored two or more goals in only three of those matches.

Avranches’ recent form is mixed: The team has won three, drawn two and lost five over its last 10 matches. Bayonnais has been more consistent, with five wins, three draws and two losses in the same span.

Both teams are vying for position in the tightly packed National 2 standings. Avranches will rely on the home crowd at Stade René Fenouillère to snap a pattern of inconsistency. Bayonnais will lean on its compact defense and discipline on the road, where it has earned points in four of its last five away games.

Saturday’s match marks the second of three scheduled meetings between the clubs this season. The final contest is set for later in the campaign.
