AP Sports Preview
GERM HALBERSTADT, Germany (Interstat) — Germania Halberstadt hosts VFC Plauen on Sunday, April 26, in an Oberliga matchup that pits two sides with contrasting recent form against each other.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time at Friedensstadion.
The visitors enter the contest on a three-match unbeaten run. Plauen (8-4-3 in their last 15 league games) posted a 1-0 win at VfL Halle on April 19, following a 3-0 victory at FC Grimma on April 15 and a 1-1 draw at Budissa Bautzen on April 12. Their lone loss in the past five outings came April 9 at Empor Glauchau, 1-0.
Germania Halberstadt, meanwhile, has alternated results in its last four matches. After a 5-1 thrashing at Krieschow on April 18, the home side bounced back with a 3-1 win over Union Sandersdorf on April 12. That followed a 2-2 draw at Einh Wernigerode on April 2 and a 2-1 victory at SC Freital on March 24.
The head-to-head history favors Plauen. In the most recent meeting Nov. 2, 2025, Plauen defeated Germania Halberstadt 4-1 at home. That result extended Plauen’s edge in recent series play.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, however, the home side is projected to reverse that outcome with a 2-1 victory.
Plauen’s overall form this season has been steady. The team has posted wins against RSV Eintracht 1949 (2-1 on April 6), SC Freital (1-0 on April 2) and a string of other Oberliga opponents since March. Their only losses during that stretch came at Auerbach (2-0 on March 22) and at Empor Glauchau.
Germania Halberstadt’s campaign has been more volatile. The club has wins over Empor Glauchau (3-1 on March 22), 1. FC Lok Stendal (2-0 on March 15), and FC Grimma (3-0 on Feb. 28), but also a 3-2 loss at Auerbach on March 18 and a 3-2 home defeat to Bischofswerdaer FV 08 on March 7.
Sunday’s match is the first of two consecutive home games for Germania Halberstadt. Plauen returns home April 29 to face Einh Wernigerode.
