Vihiga United vs Equity Bank

VIHIGA, Kenya (Interstat) — Vihiga United will look to snap a four-match winless streak Sunday when it hosts Equity Bank in a Kenyan Super League match at Bukhungu Stadium.

Equity Bank enters the contest unbeaten in its last three matches, including a scoreless draw Saturday against Michael Olunga FA. The visitors have not lost in five of their last six outings, with the lone defeat a 3-0 decision against Mombasa United FC on March 7.

Vihiga United fell 3-1 at Mwatate United on Saturday, its third loss in four matches. The home side has managed just two wins in its last 12 league fixtures.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-0 victory for Equity Bank on Sunday.

Equity Bank’s recent form has been built on defensive solidity. The side has posted clean sheets in three of its last four matches and has allowed more than one goal just once in its past 11 games. The club’s lone loss in that span remains the March 7 setback to Mombasa United.

The visitors’ attack has been modest, scoring three goals across their last three matches after a stretch of five straight games with one goal or fewer.

Vihiga United has struggled at both ends. The team has been shut out in five of its last eight matches and has conceded multiple goals in four of its past seven. The club’s last victory came March 29, a 2-1 home win against Kabati Youth FC.

The all-time series between the two sides was not immediately available.

Sunday’s match is the first of six scheduled home games in the next six weeks for Vihiga United, which will host Soy United on May 2 before traveling to Darajani Gogo FC on May 9.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. local time.
