Tanzania Prisons vs Mbeya City
AP Sports Preview
DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (Interstat) — Tanzania Prisons will host Mbeya City on Monday, May 4, 2026, in a Ligi Kuu Bara matchup at a venue to be announced.
The teams last met on Oct. 21, 2025, when Tanzania Prisons earned a 2-1 victory at Mbeya City. The game simulator from data provider Interstat projects a 1-1 draw.
Tanzania Prisons enters on a losing note, having fallen 3-0 at home to TRA United SC on Friday, May 1. The defeat extended a difficult stretch for the home side, which has lost four of its past five matches overall, including a 3-0 loss at Young Africans SC on April 4 and a 2-1 defeat to Singida Black Stars on March 18. The team’s last win came Feb. 14, a 3-2 victory over Namungo.
Prisons’ home form has been inconsistent. The side managed a 1-1 draw with Kinondoni Municipal Council FC on April 14 but has not won at home since that Namungo result. The team has struggled to contain high-scoring opponents, conceding three or more goals three times in its past 10 outings.
Mbeya City arrives with momentum from a scoreless draw at Mashujaa FC on Thursday, April 30. That result snapped a three-match losing streak that included a 6-0 thrashing at Young Africans SC on April 16.
The visiting side has shown resilience on the road, earning draws at Azam FC (0-0 on April 9) and Dodoma Jiji (1-1 on Feb. 3). Mbeya City’s last away victory came Feb. 7, a 2-0 win at TRA United SC.
However, offensive production remains a concern. Mbeya City has been shut out in three of its past five matches and has scored more than one goal only once in its last 11 contests — a 3-2 win at Kinondoni Municipal Council FC on April 3.
After Monday’s contest, Tanzania Prisons faces a demanding stretch, visiting Simba on May 10 and Singida Black Stars on May 14. Mbeya City travels to JKT Tanzania on May 9 before hosting Coastal Union on May 13.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time.
