TEL AVIV, Israel (Interstat) — Hapoel Ra’anana defeated Ironi Modi’in 2-0 on Monday at Ramat Gan Stadium in the Liga Leumit season opener.

Wonderson Yakubu scored in the 29th minute, and Hapoel added a second goal later in the match.

Hapoel Ra’anana improved to 1-0-0 in league play and across all competitions. Ironi Modi’in fell to 0-1-0 in both the league and overall.

The game marked the start of the 2026 campaign for both clubs in Israel’s second-tier football league. Ramat Gan Stadium, located near Tel Aviv, hosted the contest.

Hapoel Ra’anana’s defense held Ironi Modi’in scoreless throughout the 90 minutes, preventing any clear scoring chances for the visitors. The home side controlled possession for much of the match and capitalized on its opportunities in front of goal.

Ironi Modi’in struggled to generate offense against a disciplined Hapoel back line. The loss leaves Modi’in seeking its first win in the new season.
