AFULA, Israel (Interstat) — Hapoel Hadera and Hapoel Ra’anana fought to a 3-3 draw Thursday afternoon at Afula Illit Stadium in the opening match of the Liga Leumit season.

Basil Khuri opened the scoring for Hapoel Ra’anana in the 32nd minute. Itamar Guetta equalized for Hapoel Hadera in the 45th minute. Omer David Dahan put the visitors ahead in the 47th before Khuri added his second goal in the 50th minute to make it 3-1.

Dan LeeYam pulled a goal back for Hapoel Hadera in the 76th minute, completing the scoring.

Both teams now hold records of no wins, no losses and one draw in the competition, with the same mark across all competitions. The result came after Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 final and an ELO system gave Hapoel Ra’anana a 50.30 percent probability to win, though those projections were not reflected on the field. The match featured five goals and a high-tempo exchange between the two sides in front of the Afula crowd.
