GSI Pontivy vs PD Ergue-Gaberic

PONTIVY, France (Interstat) — GSI Pontivy will host PD Ergue-Gaberic on Saturday, April 25, in a National 3 clash that carries significant implications for both sides in the lower tiers of French football. Kickoff is set for a time to be announced.

The matchup pits two clubs trending in opposite directions. Pontivy enters after a humbling 5-0 home loss to Guingamp on April 18, a result that snapped a modest unbeaten run. Prior to that defeat, Pontivy had gone three matches without a loss — including a 3-2 win at Saint-Pierre Milizac on April 11 and a 2-2 draw with Lannion FC on April 4. The April 18 loss, however, exposed defensive frailties that had been masked by a solid winter campaign.

Pontivy’s season has been a study in inconsistency. After a 2-0 win at Brest on Feb. 14 and a 1-0 victory over AS Vitre on Feb. 28, they dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Stade Lavallois Mayenne FC 2 on Feb. 21. A scoreless draw with OC Cesson on March 28 and a 2-2 tie with Lannion followed before the Guingamp rout.

PD Ergue-Gaberic arrives with momentum, having eked out a 1-0 home win over Saint-Pierre Milizac on April 18. That victory was their second in three matches, following a 2-2 draw at OC Cesson on April 11. But consistency has been elusive: a 3-1 home loss to US Alencon on March 28 and a 2-1 defeat at Stade Lavallois Mayenne FC 2 on March 7 punctuated a season of narrow margins.

Ergue-Gaberic’s form has been streaky. They opened February with a 1-1 draw against US Fougeres Football on Feb. 7, then beat AS Vitre 1-0 on Feb. 14. A 1-1 draw with Brest on Feb. 21 was followed by the loss to Lavallois. Earlier in the season, they posted commanding wins — a 3-1 victory over OC Cesson on Dec. 6 and a 3-2 result at US Alencon on Nov. 22 — but also suffered heavy defeats, including a 4-1 loss to Lannion FC on Nov. 8.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Pontivy, but the visitors’ recent resilience suggests a tight affair. Pontivy will need to tighten their back line after Guingamp’s five-goal barrage. Ergue-Gaberic, meanwhile, will look to exploit any lingering defensive uncertainty and build on their narrow win.
