Real Oviedo vs Getafe
OVIEDO, Spain (Interstat) — Real Oviedo hosts Getafe on Sunday in a La Liga matchup with both teams seeking to regain momentum after losses in their most recent outings.
Getafe (10-10-9, 40 points) fell 2-0 at home to Rayo Vallecano on May 3, snapping a three-match winning streak. The defeat dropped the Madrid side to ninth place, three points clear of 10th-place Real Oviedo.
Real Oviedo (9-11-10, 38 points) also lost its last match, 3-0 at Real Betis on May 3. The result ended a four-match unbeaten run for the Asturian club, which sits 10th with a goal difference of minus-4.
The teams have met once this season, with Getafe earning a 2-0 home victory on Sept. 13, 2025. That result extended Getafe’s head-to-head advantage; the Azulones have won three of the past five meetings, with one draw and one Oviedo victory.
Getafe enters Sunday’s contest with a mixed away record. The team has won four of its 14 road matches this season, losing six and drawing four. Oviedo, meanwhile, has been strong at home, with seven wins, three draws and five losses at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere.
Getafe’s form has been erratic. After a February and March that included wins over Villarreal, Real Betis, Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao, the team suffered a 1-0 loss at Levante on April 13 before rebounding with a 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad on April 22. The Rayo Vallecano defeat halted that mini-surge.
Real Oviedo has shown resilience in recent weeks. A 3-0 win at Celta Vigo on April 12 was followed by a 3-3 draw at Tenerife and a 1-1 home draw against Villarreal before the Betis loss. Oviedo’s attack has been inconsistent, scoring 35 goals in 30 matches, but the defense has tightened, allowing only 10 goals in the past nine league games.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, reflecting the teams’ similar standings and recent performances. Neither side has a standout goal-scorer among the league’s top 15, though Getafe’s defensive record — 30 goals conceded — is slightly better than Oviedo’s 39.
After Sunday, Getafe returns home to face Mallorca on May 13, then travels to Elche on May 17. Real Oviedo visits Real Madrid on May 14 before hosting Deportivo Alaves on May 17.
Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. local time.
