PFK Arda 1924 Kardzhali vs PFK Cherno More Varna

KARDZHALI, Bulgaria (Interstat) — PFK Cherno More Varna visits PFK Arda 1924 Kardzhali on Sunday in a Bulgarian First League matchup that pits two clubs heading in opposite directions.

Cherno More arrives at Arena Arda riding a three-match unbeaten streak, including a 1-0 win over Lokomotiv Plovdiv on April 26. The Varna side has not lost since April 15, when FK CSKA 1948 Sofia handed it a 4-0 defeat. In that span, Cherno More played Ludogorets to a scoreless draw, then bounced back with clean-sheet victories over Slavia Sofia (3-1) and Lokomotiv Plovdiv.

Arda, by contrast, has lost three of its past four matches, with the lone bright spot a 1-0 home win over league leader Ludogorets on April 15. Since then, Arda fell 4-0 at home to Lokomotiv Plovdiv and 2-0 at home to Botev Plovdiv. The Kardzhali side has managed just one goal in its past five matches.

The teams met most recently on March 4 in Varna, where Cherno More won 1-0. That result continued a pattern: Cherno More has won the past two head-to-head meetings, and Interstat’s game simulator projects another 1-0 victory for the visitors Sunday.

Cherno More’s defense has been stingy, posting five clean sheets in its past eight league outings. Goalkeeper Ivan Dyulgerov has been central to that run, while forward Georgi Bozhilov has provided the attacking spark, scoring in two of the past three matches.

Arda will look to forward Preslav Borukov to break a scoring drought. The 24-year-old has not found the net since March 21, when he scored in a 4-1 win over Septemvri Sofia. Midfielder Lachezar Kotev, a creative force in the center of the park, will need to supply service against a disciplined Cherno More back line.

One key matchup to watch: Cherno More’s left back Viktor Mitsanski against Arda’s right winger Ivan Tilev. Mitsanski has been solid defensively but can be exposed by pace, while Tilev is Arda’s most dangerous dribbler.

Both teams have quick turnarounds after Sunday. Cherno More returns home to host Botev Plovdiv on May 9. Arda travels to Lokomotiv Plovdiv on May 8, then hosts the same side on May 16.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m. local time. The match will be played under clear skies with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius, according to the Bulgarian Meteorological Institute.
