Lyngby vs Hvidovre

LYNGBY, Denmark (Interstat) — Lyngby and Hvidovre will renew a tight local rivalry Saturday with both sides looking to build momentum in the Denmark 2. Division.

The match at Lyngby Stadion pits two clubs with recent promotion ambitions against each other. The head-to-head record suggests little separates them. Their last two meetings ended in a 2-2 draw in October and a 2-1 Hvidovre victory last August.

Lyngby (8-5-3) enters with confidence after a 3-1 road win at Kolding IF last Saturday. Their attack has been potent, scoring three or more goals in four of their last six matches. However, consistency has been an issue, as seen in a 1-0 home loss to AC Horsens earlier this month.

Hvidovre (6-7-3) seeks to rebound from a 1-0 Friday defeat at Esbjerg fB. Their form has been mixed, with a four-game unbeaten streak snapped by that loss. A bright spot was a dominant 4-0 win at AC Horsens in March. Forward Julius Lucena remains a key attacking threat for the visitors.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Lyngby is projected to win 2-1.

Beyond league play, both clubs have a notable fixture on the horizon. Hvidovre is scheduled to visit top-flight Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga on May 23, while Lyngby will host fellow Copenhagen giants FC Copenhagen in the Superliga on May 24.

Kickoff is set for Saturday afternoon.
