Atalanta vs Genoa
BERGAMO, Italy (Interstat) — Atalanta and Genoa played to a scoreless draw Saturday in Serie A at New Balance Arena, a match that featured three yellow cards and a pair of assists despite the lack of goals.
Atalanta midfielder Éderson recorded an assist. Genoa substitute Amorim also recorded an assist. Amorim received a yellow card in the 19th minute, Éderson in the 64th and Genoa forward Nikola Krstović in the 78th.
The result left Genoa with a Serie A record of 10 wins, 15 losses and 10 draws. Atalanta’s league mark is 18 wins, 15 losses and 13 draws. Across all competitions, Genoa has 13 wins, 16 losses and 10 draws, while Atalanta has 22 wins, 20 losses and 14 draws.
Genoa entered the match coming off a 2-0 loss to Como on April 26. That defeat snapped a two-game winning streak that included a 2-1 victory at Pisa on April 19 and a 2-1 home win over Sassuolo on April 12. Prior to those wins, Genoa had lost 2-0 at Juventus on April 6 and fallen 2-0 at Udinese on March 20. The team’s form had been uneven, with three wins and three losses in its previous six matches before the draw.
Atalanta arrived after a 3-2 loss at Cagliari on April 27, which ended a modest run of two draws and one defeat. The team had drawn 1-1 at Roma on April 18, lost 1-0 at Udinese on April 14 and lost 1-0 at home to Juventus on April 11. Atalanta also had a 2-0 win over Inter Milan on April 11 in a match that was part of a busy schedule. The draw at home against Genoa extended Atalanta’s winless streak to four matches in all competitions, with one draw and three losses since a 2-0 victory over Lecce on April 6.
The two teams had met twice earlier in the season. Atalanta won the most recent encounter 1-0 on Dec. 21, 2025, and had earlier defeated Genoa 4-0 on Dec. 3, 2025. Both of those matches were Serie A fixtures, and Saturday’s draw ended Atalanta’s two-game winning streak in the head-to-head series.
The match was the 30th league game for both clubs. Genoa’s defense held firm against an Atalanta side that had scored 48 goals in its first 46 matches across all competitions. Genoa, which had conceded 41 goals in its previous 39 games overall, also struggled offensively, managing only 32 goals in all competitions before Saturday.
Neither team generated a breakthrough in a contest that saw limited clear chances. The yellow cards added to a physical tone, with the three bookings coming in quick succession at various points. Amorim’s two cautions in the 19th minute were listed separately, though no red card was issued, suggesting he received a yellow and then another yellow in the same minute – an unusual sequence that left him on the field. Similarly, Éderson received two yellows in the 64th minute, and Krstović two yellows in the 78th minute. In each case, the player remained in the game, a rare occurrence that suggested a data anomaly or a referee’s decision to not show a second yellow card after a single caution.
Genoa’s next match is Sunday, May 10, when it visits Fiorentina. Atalanta travels to AC Milan on the same day.
Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, while its ELO system gave Atalanta an 80.50 percent probability to win.
