Gent vs Sint-Truiden

Preview: Gent Looks to Reverse Fortunes Against Sint-Truiden in Belgian First Division A Clash

GHENT, Belgium (Interstat) — Gent will seek to break a recent hex against visiting Sint-Truiden when the sides meet in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday.

The matchup at Ghelamco Arena is a chance for Gent to avenge two consecutive losses to Sint-Truiden last season. The visitors won the most recent meeting 2-1 here on Nov. 30, 2025, after a 3-1 victory at home last July.

Gent (12-8-10) enters following a disappointing 3-1 road loss to league-leader Anderlecht last Sunday. Prior to that, their form was mixed with a draw against Mechelen and wins over Dender and Zulte Waregem in March. Their attack has shown potency, scoring three or more goals in four of their last ten matches, but defensive consistency has been an issue.

Sint-Truiden (11-6-13) arrives after a narrow 2-1 home defeat to Club Brugge on April 11. That loss extended a concerning trend for the Canaries, who have now lost four straight league matches without scoring a goal, including defeats to Union St-Gilloise, Genk and a surprising loss to Kampong Speu Province. Their last victory came on Feb. 21 against Dender. Before this slump, they had shown a strong run of form in January and early February.

Historically, this fixture has favored the home side, but Sint-Truiden’s recent successes against Gent will provide a psychological edge. Gent will rely on home support to propel them back into the European qualification conversation, while Sint-Truiden desperately seeks to end its April scoring drought and slide down the table.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projection favors Gent to end its losing streak against Sint-Truiden with a 2-1 victory.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
