Preview: Angers U19 Hosts Union Foot de Touraine in National 3 Clash

ANGERS, France (Interstat) — A pivotal National 3 youth league matchup is set for Saturday as Angers U19 hosts Union Foot de Touraine at Stade Raymond Kopa. The contest pits a home side seeking consistency against a visiting squad riding a wave of momentum.

Union Foot de Touraine (UFT) arrives with confidence, fresh off a 2-0 home victory over Vendée Fontenay Foot last Saturday. That win extended their unbeaten run to three matches, having also defeated AS La Châtaigneraie 3-1 and drawn with La Berrichonne de Châteauroux 2 earlier this month. Their form shows a potent attack, netting multiple goals in four of their last five outings.

Angers U19, the developmental side of professional club Angers SCO, is coming off a mixed week. They secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Guingamp U19 last Sunday but were held to a scoreless draw by La Berrichonne de Châteauroux 2 the day before. Their season has been marked by offensive explosions, including several four-goal performances, but also puzzling shutout losses.

The statistical service Interstat projects a tight, low-scoring affair, simulating a 1-0 victory for the visiting Union Foot de Touraine. This forecast underscores UFT’s recent defensive solidity and Angers’ occasional struggles to find the net.

Historically, this fixture presents a contrast in pedigree. Angers U19 represents a structured academy pathway, while Union Foot de Touraine is a consolidated senior amateur side that also fields teams in youth leagues, often featuring older, more physically developed players.

Key for the hosts will be replicating the offensive verve shown in wins over Saint-Lô and Brest’s academies. For the visitors, maintaining the defensive discipline that has yielded clean sheets in two of their last three will be crucial.

The match kicks off at 6 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) on April 18. According to the league schedule, Angers U19 is next scheduled to play Stade Poitevin U19 on the road the following Saturday.
