Villarreal CF vs Levante
VILLARREAL, Spain (Interstat) — Villarreal CF hosts Levante on Saturday, May 2, in a La Liga matchup that finds both sides in contrasting form as the season enters its final month.
The teams met most recently Feb. 18, a 1-0 Villarreal victory. That result extended Villarreal’s edge in the head-to-head series, but the balance of recent results suggests a tight contest. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.
Levante enters the match on a two-match winning streak, shutting out Sevilla 2-0 on April 23 and Getafe 1-0 on April 13. Those clean-sheet victories ended a difficult stretch for Levante, which had gone five matches without a win, including a 2-0 loss at Real Sociedad on April 4 and a 2-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao on Feb. 8. The team’s away form has been mixed: a 1-1 draw at Huesca on March 22, a 4-2 win at Real Oviedo on March 21, and a 2-0 win at Deportivo Alaves on Feb. 27.
Villarreal, meanwhile, is coming off a 1-1 draw at Real Oviedo on April 23. That result followed a 2-1 win at Athletic Bilbao on April 12, a victory that broke a two-match losing streak that included a 1-0 loss at Girona on April 6 and a 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona on Feb. 28. Villarreal’s overall form has been inconsistent: it has won three of its last seven matches but has also lost three, including a 2-1 loss at Getafe on Feb. 14.
The Yellow Submarine’s home record is a bright spot. Villarreal has won four of its last six at Estadio de la Cerámica, including a 2-1 win over Elche on March 8 and a 4-1 victory over Espanyol on Feb. 9.
For Levante, the match starts a critical week. It faces Osasuna on Friday, May 8, and visits Celta Vigo on Tuesday, May 12. Villarreal travels to Mallorca on Sunday, May 10, and hosts Sevilla on Wednesday, May 13.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time.
