CAIRO (Interstat) — Tala’ea El Gaish opened its Egyptian Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Petrojet on Monday at Gehaz El Reyada Stadium, outperforming statistical projections.

Forward Ismail Ouro-Agoro opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Midfielder Islam Mohareb doubled the lead before halftime with a goal in the 40th minute. Defender Amr Tarek and substitute Rasheed Ahmed provided assists.

The result defied pregame analytics, as Interstat’s simulator had projected a 1-1 draw and gave Petrojet a 60.1% probability to win. Petrojet’s season record fell to 0-1.

The match featured seven yellow cards, with five issued in a contentious span early in the second half.
