Anderlecht Topples Gent in Dramatic Late Show at Lotto Park
BRUSSELS (Interstat) — Anderlecht scored twice deep in stoppage time to secure a 3-1 victory over Gent in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday at Lotto Park.
The match appeared destined for a draw after Gent’s Tristan Degreef equalized in the 93rd minute, canceling out Yari Verschaeren’s 79th-minute opener for the hosts. But Anderlecht responded immediately, with substitute Wilfried Kanga restoring the lead three minutes later off an assist from Siebe Van der Heyden. Adriano Bertaccini then sealed the win in the 96th minute, capping a performance where he also assisted Verschaeren’s goal.
The result, which outpaced a Interstat projection of a 2-1 Anderlecht win, improves Anderlecht’s league record to 13 wins, nine losses and seven draws. Gent falls to 12 wins, 11 losses and six draws.
