CELJE U19 VISITS BREZICE IN KEY SLOVENIAN YOUTH LEAGUE MATCH

BREZICE, Slovenia (Interstat) — A high-scoring Celje U19 squad brings its potent attack to face Brezice on Friday in a 1. Mladinska Liga matchup, looking to avenge a recent defeat in the reverse fixture.

The visitors enter with significant momentum, having won four of their last five matches, including a dominant 4-1 victory over NK Fužinar Ravne U19 on April 13. Their form has been marked by offensive firepower, netting 14 goals in that five-game stretch. Celje U19 (8-3-4) currently sits near the top of the youth league table.

Brezice (5-5-5), however, presents a resilient challenge, especially at home. They are coming off a 3-2 road win against Dobrovce on April 18. Their recent form has been inconsistent, but they have shown an ability to find the net, scoring multiple goals in three of their last four outings.

The previous meeting this season provides a dramatic backdrop. On Oct. 22, 2025, Celje U19 edged Brezice 3-2 in a tightly contested match, suggesting another close encounter is likely.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Celje U19, reflecting their current form and league position. The prediction underscores the visitors’ slight edge, but also acknowledges Brezice’s capacity to challenge, particularly with home support.

Celje U19’s attack is multifaceted, with big wins over Ilirija (6-0) and Domzale U19 (4-1) highlighting their potential to overwhelm opponents. Brezice’s defense will be tested, though they have recorded shutouts against NK Hajdina and NK Rudar Velenje U19 this season.

For Brezice, containing Celje’s forwards while capitalizing on their own chances will be crucial. Their 3-3 draw with Ilirija and the recent win over Dobrovce demonstrate they can compete in high-scoring affairs.

Following Friday’s match, Brezice faces a quick turnaround, hosting SD Videm on Saturday. Celje U19’s next contest is at home against Krka U19 on April 29.

Kickoff is scheduled for Friday afternoon at Brezice’s home ground. The match is a critical fixture for both sides as the Slovenian youth league season progresses toward its conclusion.
