CAIRO (Interstat) — Petrojet opened its Egyptian Premier League season with a 2-1 victory over ZED on Thursday at Petrosport Stadium in Kattameya, defying a pregame projection of a draw.

Substitute Abdelrahman El Banoubi broke a scoreless deadlock in the 56th minute, converting a pass from fellow substitute Ali Gamal. ZED’s Rasheed Ahmed equalized just eight minutes later, assisted by Mohamed Ali Okasha. The decisive goal came from Petrojet midfielder Adham Hamed, who finished a setup from Ahmed Bahbah in the 64th minute.
