YEREVAN, Armenia (Interstat) — Urartu hosts Van on Sunday in an Armenian First League match, looking to extend a three-game winning streak in the head-to-head series.

The teams meet at 6 p.m. local time. Urartu has won the last three meetings, including a 2-1 victory April 10 on Van’s home pitch. The home side also posted a 4-0 win Oct. 28 and a 2-0 victory Aug. 15.

Van enters Sunday’s match having lost two straight. The visitors fell 2-1 at home to Yerevan on Thursday, their second defeat in three games. Prior to that, Van lost 2-0 at Noah on April 20 and 2-1 at Urartu on April 10. The team’s last win came April 4, a 2-1 result at Ararat.

Urartu also has struggled recently, losing 2-1 at Pyunik on Thursday. That defeat followed a 3-1 home loss to Alashkert on April 19 and a 1-1 draw at FC Andranik on April 15. Urartu’s last victory came April 10, also against Van.

Both teams have shown inconsistency this season. Van’s results include a 3-1 win at BKMA on March 22 and a 4-3 victory at Noah on March 21, but also a 3-0 loss at Ararat-Armenia on March 16 and a 2-1 home defeat to Ararat on March 7. Van also played Noah to a 0-0 draw Dec. 2.

Urartu’s season has featured a 4-1 win at Yerevan on March 15 and a 2-0 victory at Alashkert on Nov. 29, but also a 2-0 loss at Ararat-Armenia on April 8 and a 1-0 defeat at BKMA on March 22.

The teams will face again quickly after Sunday’s match. Van visits Urartu again May 3 in the Premier League. Before that, Urartu hosts FC Andranik on Wednesday, then travels to Alashkert on May 1. Van’s next game after Sunday is at West Armenia on May 2.
