Shirak vs Yerevan

SHIRAK HOSTS YEREVAN IN KEY ARMENIAN FIRST LEAGUE CLASH

GYUMRI, Armenia (Interstat) — Local rivals Shirak and Yerevan will meet for the third time this season on Thursday, with both sides desperate for a victory to alter their struggling campaigns.

The match at Gyumri City Stadium is a First League fixture, Armenia’s second division. The teams played to a scoreless draw just four days ago in Yerevan, a result that did little to help either club’s precarious position.

Form heavily favors the hosts. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Shirak is projected to earn a 2-1 victory.

Recent results underscore the challenge for Yerevan. The visitors are mired in a prolonged winless streak across all competitions, having failed to secure a victory in their last 10 matches. Their most recent result was the 0-0 draw with Shirak. Prior to that, they suffered a 2-0 loss to Noah on April 5. Their last win came on Dec. 6, 2025, a 3-2 victory over Noah.

Shirak’s form is only marginally better. Their last outing was the draw with Yerevan. Before that, they endured a string of defeats, including a 3-0 loss to Noah on March 22 and a 3-1 home defeat to West Armenia on March 21. Their last win was a 1-0 result over Ararat-Armenia FA on March 4.

In the season’s earlier head-to-head meeting, Yerevan earned a 2-1 home win over Shirak on Aug. 16, 2025.

The fixture carries significant weight in the league table, with both teams needing points to climb away from the lower reaches. For Yerevan, breaking their lengthy drought is imperative.

Following Thursday’s match, Yerevan will quickly turn around to host Gandzasar on April 19 in Premier League action. Shirak’s next contest is a home match against Ararat-Armenia on April 20.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time (1200 GMT).
