Midtjylland W vs Sonderjyske
HERNING, Denmark (Interstat) — In a frenetic finish at MCH Arena, substitutes for both sides sparked a late flurry of goals as Midtjylland W and Sonderjyske played to a 2-2 draw in a Danish 1. Division match on Saturday.
The result leaves both teams with identical records in the league competition to open the season, each registering a draw without a win or loss.
The home side struck first and early. Midtjylland W forward Aral Şimşir opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing an assist from Cho Guesung to give his team an early advantage. The first half saw a physical tone set, with Sonderjyske’s Alexander Lyng and Midtjylland’s Cho receiving yellow cards in the 25th and 44th minutes, respectively.
Sonderjyske, which had defeated Midtjylland W in their previous meeting last November, found an equalizer before the hour mark. Midfielder Darío Osorio leveled the match at 1-1 in the 58th minute, converting a pass from substitute Pachanga Kristensen.
The game appeared headed for a deadlock until a dramatic final 10 minutes. Sonderjyske’s Mohamed Cherif Haidara, who had entered the match as a substitute, put the visitors ahead in the 83rd minute. His goal was assisted by fellow substitute Dalton Wilkins, seemingly securing a road victory for Sonderjyske.
Midtjylland W responded swiftly. Just six minutes later, another substitute made his mark. Olti Hyseni scored in the 89th minute to pull Midtjylland W level at 2-2, assisted by Alexander Lyng. The frantic conclusion was underscored by a yellow card to Sonderjyske’s Dalton Wilkins in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.
The draw continues a pattern of high-scoring contests between the two sides. In their most recent encounters, Sonderjyske earned a 2-1 victory last November, while Midtjylland W secured a decisive 6-2 win last July.
With the split of points, Sonderjyske’s overall record across all competitions this season moves to 14 wins, nine losses and nine draws. Midtjylland W’s comprehensive record now stands at 24 wins, nine losses and 11 draws.
Both teams will look to secure their first league victory of the campaign in their next 1. Division fixtures.
