LEVERKUSEN, GER (Interstat) — Katharina Piljić and Estrella Gonzalez scored in the opening nine minutes Sunday as Bayer Leverkusen Women rolled past Freiburg Women 4-1 in Frauen Bundesliga play at Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion. Piljić struck in the fourth minute, Gonzalez in the ninth. Carlotta Wamser added a goal in the 57th minute and Alena Bienz sealed the victory in the 85th. Freiburg got its lone goal later. Loreen Bender, Maj Schneider and Alina Axtmann each recorded an assist for Leverkusen. Yellow cards were issued to Schneider in the 33rd minute, Axtmann in the 44th, Bender in first-half stoppage time and Freiburg’s Greta Stegemann in the 66th. Leverkusen improved to 13-9 in league play and overall, while Freiburg dropped to 7-9-2 in both. The win avenged a 2-1 loss at Freiburg on Nov. 10. Leverkusen next plays at SGS Essen on May 3. Freiburg visits Carl Zeiss Jena on May 3.
