Salzburg Rallies With Two Late Goals to Upset Hosts in Bundesliga Opener
HARTBERG, Austria (Interstat) — FC Red Bull Salzburg overcame a halftime deficit with two goals in three minutes to defeat Hocheg Dacher E/H 2-1 on Sunday in the Austrian Bundesliga opener for both clubs.
The home side took the lead at PROfertil ARENA in the 30th minute when forward Elias Havel found the net. Salzburg’s comeback was fueled by substitutes, with Karim Konaté tying the match in the 56th minute and providing the assist for Sōta Kitano’s decisive goal just two minutes later.
The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored the hosts. The match saw five yellow cards, and Hocheg Dacher E/H played a man down after defender Lukas Spendlhofer received a red card in the 83rd minute.
