Olympiakos SFP vs PAOK
PIRAEUS, Greece (Interstat) — Olympiakos hosts PAOK on Sunday in a Super League 1 matchup that carries significant weight in the Greek title race, with the visitors holding recent dominance in the rivalry.
PAOK enters the May 10 contest at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium having won the past two meetings, including a 3-1 home victory May 3. That result followed PAOK’s 2-0 win at Olympiakos on Jan. 14, giving the visitors a 2-0 edge in the season series.
The May 3 defeat also stands as Olympiakos’ most recent result. Prior to that, Olympiakos had posted a 2-0 win at Panathinaikos on April 19 and a 2-1 victory at Panserraikos on March 1, but also dropped a 1-0 decision to AEK Athens on April 5 and a 1-0 loss at Levadeiakos on Feb. 14. The home side’s overall form shows inconsistency, with wins against Asteras Tripolis (3-0) and Atromitos (2-0) mixed with losses to PAOK and AEK Athens.
PAOK’s recent form has been steady. Before the May 3 win over Olympiakos, PAOK defeated Makedonikos Foufas 3-1 on April 26 and Kifisias 4-1 on March 4, and posted a 2-0 win at Asteras Tripolis on March 1. However, PAOK suffered a 3-0 loss to AEK Athens on April 19 and managed only a 1-1 draw with Nest Chrisoupolis on April 18. A 2-1 home loss to AD Ceuta FC on Feb. 19 in a European competition also highlighted some vulnerability.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.
Both teams face quick turnarounds. After Sunday, PAOK hosts AEK Athens in league play May 13, then plays Levski Sofia in the UEFA Europa Conference League and visits Panathinaikos in league action May 17. Olympiakos faces Panathinaikos at home May 13 before visiting AEK Athens on May 17.
Sunday’s match kicks off at the usual Super League 1 evening slot. Olympiakos aims to halt PAOK’s head-to-head run and tighten the standings, while PAOK looks to extend its recent mastery of the Athens-Piraeus rivalry and maintain momentum with several key fixtures ahead.
