YEREVAN, Armenia (April 11, 2026) (Interstat) — Ararat-Armenia opened its Armenian Premier League season with a 2-0 road victory over rival Pyunik on Saturday at Yerevan Football Academy. The visiting side defied pre-match projections that heavily favored Pyunik. Hugo Oliveira broke a scoreless deadlock in the second minute of second-half stoppage time, sealing the win. The result marked a successful start for Ararat-Armenia, which began its campaign with a win across all competitions. Pyunik, conversely, starts its season with a loss in both league and overall play. The outcome contrasted sharply with a Interstat game simulator, which had projected a 1-1 draw, and an ELO system that gave Pyunik a 76.10 percent probability to win.
