FUNCHAL, Portugal (Interstat) — Jesús Ramírez scored in the 67th minute to lift Nacional to a 1-0 victory over Alverca in Primeira Liga play on Saturday at Estádio da Madeira.

The decisive goal was assisted by forward Gabriel Veron. The match was a defensive struggle for long stretches before Ramírez broke the deadlock. The win gives Nacional a measure of revenge after a 1-0 loss at Alverca in December.

Alverca’s Rhaldney received a yellow card in the 38th minute. Both Veron and Alverca’s Chiheb Labidi were booked in the latter stages as the visitors pushed unsuccessfully for an equalizer.

The result improves Nacional’s league record to six wins, 12 losses and six draws. Alverca falls to seven wins, 12 losses and eight draws in Primeira Liga action.
