GENT, Belgium (April 6, 2026) (Interstat) — A stoppage-time goal from substitute Bill Antonio earned Mechelen a 1-1 draw with Gent in a Belgian First Division A match Monday at Planet Group Arena.

Mechelen’s Max Dean opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Gent pressured throughout but could not break through until Antonio’s dramatic equalizer in the fifth minute of added time. Dean received a yellow card immediately after the tying goal. The result left both teams with a draw to open their league campaigns. The match defied pre-game projections that heavily favored Gent to win.
