Crusaders vs Portadown
BELFAST, Northern Ireland (Interstat) — A crucial Premiership clash with significant implications at both ends of the table is set for Saturday as Crusaders host Portadown at Seaview.
The match arrives with both teams mired in poor form. Crusaders, the home side, are winless in their last five league outings, including a 1-1 draw with Bangor on Tuesday. Their defense has been a particular concern, conceding 18 goals in their last six matches before that stalemate.
Portadown travels to north Belfast following a 1-1 draw with Carrick Rangers, also on Tuesday. They have managed just one victory in their last eight Premiership fixtures.
Recent head-to-head history, however, heavily favors the visitors. Portadown is unbeaten in the last three meetings, including a dominant 4-0 victory at Seaview on Dec. 6, 2025, and a 2-1 win last August. The most recent encounter, on March 21, ended in a 0-0 draw at Portadown’s Shamrock Park.
Despite that recent dominance, a statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a 2-1 home victory for Crusaders this weekend. A win for Crusaders could provide a vital boost to salvage a difficult season, while Portadown seeks to complete a rare league double over their opponents and pull further clear of relegation concerns.
The fixture is one of only two matches for each side this month. Crusaders will visit Glenavon on April 18, while Portadown travels to Ballymena United the same day.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time at Seaview in Belfast.
