BALLYMENA, Northern Ireland (Interstat) — Ballymena United and Glenavon opened their Premiership campaigns with a 1-1 draw Tuesday at The Showgrounds.

Success Edogun put the visiting Lurgan Blues ahead in the 31st minute, but Ballymena’s Conor Falls equalized just before halftime in the 47th. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which gave the home side a 60.1% chance to win and simulated a 2-1 victory. Both clubs begin the league season with identical records, seeking their first win after an opening-day stalemate.
