FREIBURG, Germany (Interstat) — SC Freiburg opened its Europa League campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over AD Ceuta FC on Thursday at Europa-Park Stadion.

The German side controlled the match from the start, exceeding a pregame projection that favored a narrower win. Vincenzo Grifo opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Defender Jan-Niklas Beste doubled the lead in the 32nd, and fellow defender Matthias Ginter sealed the result in the 78th. Midfielder Maximilian Eggestein provided an assist and received a yellow card in stoppage time.

The win gives Freiburg a perfect start in European play this season, while Ceuta begins with a loss.
