UDINE, Italy (Interstat) — Substitute Nesta Elphege scored a second-half goal to propel Parma to a 1-0 upset victory over Udinese in a Serie A match Saturday at Bluenergy Stadium.

The decisive play came in the 51st minute. Midfielder Jesper Karlström provided the assist, with Nicolò Zaniolo also credited with a helper on Elphege’s winner. The result defied pregame projections, as statistical models heavily favored Udinese.

The victory gives Parma a winning start to its Serie A campaign, while Udinese begins with a loss. Both teams’ records across all competitions mirror their league starts. Zaniolo and Karlström each received late yellow cards in the physical contest.
