CAGLIARI, Italy (Interstat) — Cagliari opened its Serie A season with a 1-0 victory over visiting US Cremonese on Saturday at Unipol Domus. The lone goal came in the 63rd minute from forward Sebastiano Esposito, breaking a defensive deadlock. The result defied pre-match projections that favored Cremonese. The visitors finished with 10 men after midfielder Michel Ndary Adopo received a yellow card just before the decisive goal, his second booking of the match. Cagliari begins its campaign with a win, while Cremonese starts with a loss.
