MANAMA, Bahrain (April 16, 2026) (Interstat) — Visiting Budaiya earned a 2-1 victory over Al Najma on Thursday in a Bahrain Premier League match at Al Ahli Stadium, defying pregame projections.

Mohammed Abdul Qayoom opened the scoring for Budaiya in the 36th minute. Kablan N’Goma doubled the lead just seven minutes later with another left-footed finish. Al Najma managed a second-half goal but could not complete the comeback.

The result was an upset, as statistical models heavily favored Al Najma. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 2-1 win for Al Najma, and its ELO system gave the home side a 76.3% probability to win. Budaiya begins its league campaign 1-0, while Al Najma starts 0-1.
