PUERTO CORTÉS, Honduras (Interstat) — Juan Mosquera’s early strike was enough for Policia Nacional FC to secure a 1-0 road victory over Platense in Liga Nacional play Wednesday at Estadio Excelsior.

Mosquera found the net in the ninth minute, providing the only offense in a match that defied pregame projections. Statistical models heavily favored the hosts, but Policia Nacional FC’s defense made the slim lead stand.

The result snaps a two-game losing skid for Policia Nacional FC and improves its league record to eight wins, 19 losses and 10 draws. Platense, which had won its previous match, falls to 12-14-9. The clubs had drawn in their four previous meetings.
