Preview: TuS Geretsried vs. Kottern in Oberliga Bayern Süd

GERETSDRIED, Germany (Interstat) — Two sides riding contrasting waves of form will meet Tuesday when TuS Geretsried hosts Kottern in an Oberliga Bayern Süd fixture.

The match at Sportanlage an der Jahnstraße kicks off at 7 p.m. local time.

TuS Geretsried (9-6-8) enters on a four-match unbeaten run, having secured three wins and a draw in that span. Most recently, the club earned a 2-1 road victory at SV Erlbach last Friday. That followed a dominant 5-0 home win over Augsburg on April 6. Manager Sebastian Schmidt’s squad has shown a potent attack lately, scoring 10 goals in its last four outings.

Visiting Kottern (8-7-8) also brings momentum, having snapped a three-match winless streak with a convincing 3-0 home victory over Sturm Hauzenberg on Saturday. That result showcased the team’s resilience after a difficult March that included three losses and a draw.

The recent history between the clubs is limited, adding an element of unpredictability to the midweek clash. The broader season patterns, however, reveal a stark contrast: Geretsried has been strong at home lately, while Kottern has struggled on the road. Kottern’s away record includes just one win in its last five trips, with three losses and a draw.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is a 2-1 victory for the home side, TuS Geretsried.

A key tactical battle will unfold in midfield, where Geretsried’s recent offensive surge will test a Kottern defense that has been inconsistent away from home but is coming off a clean sheet.

For Kottern, maintaining the defensive discipline shown against Hauzenberg will be critical to securing a positive result on the road. For Geretsried, capitalizing on home support and continuing its free-scoring form could solidify its position in the upper half of the table.

Following this match, Kottern’s next fixture is at home against SV Erlbach on April 21. TuS Geretsried’s next opponent is to be determined.

The Oberliga Bayern Süd is the fifth tier of the German football league system.
