SKOPJE, North Macedonia (April 4, 2026) (Interstat) — Vardar opened its First League season with a commanding 5-1 victory over FK Makedonija Gjorche Petrov on Saturday at Nationala Arena Toše Proeski.

The home side took control early with Darko Velkovski scoring in the 31st minute. Diego Castañeda doubled the lead before halftime. Vardar then delivered a stunning four-goal burst in a 14-minute second-half span. Joaquín Torres scored twice, while Boban Nikolov and Ivan Galevski each added a goal.

The lopsided result defied a pregame projection that forecast a closer match. It improved Vardar’s record to 1-0, while FK Makedonija Gjorche Petrov fell to 0-1. Vardar’s next league match is scheduled for April 11 at Detonit Plachkovica.
