STARA PAZOVA, Serbia (Interstat) — Denmark U19 opened its UEFA Under-19 Championship qualification campaign with a 1-0 victory over Serbia U19 on Thursday.

The match, played at Sportski Centar Fudbalskog Saveza Srbije, was decided by a 67th-minute goal from forward Nikoline Nielsen. Defender Asta Kynde provided the assist on the game’s only score. Kynde also received a yellow card in the 90th minute.

The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, whose simulator had predicted a 1-0 win for Serbia. Denmark was favored with a 64.3% win probability by the same service’s ELO system.

With the win, Denmark begins the European qualifying group with a perfect record, while Serbia starts with a loss.
