HAMILTON, Scotland (Interstat) — Kaela McDonald scored three goals Sunday to power Montrose FC Women to a 5-0 victory over Hamilton Academical in SWPL 1 play at New Douglas Park.

McDonald opened in the 35th minute, then added goals in the 79th and 90th-plus-second minutes to record a hat trick. Demi Taylor gave Montrose the lead in the 30th minute, and Neve Guthrie scored in the 86th. Defender Shona Cowan received a yellow card in the 90th-plus-first minute for a team that posted its first shutout since April 26.

Montrose improved to 8-12-3 in league play and 8-12-3 overall. Hamilton fell to 0-21-2 in the league and 2-25-2 across all competitions.

Hamilton, winless in its last 13 matches, managed few scoring chances as Montrose dominated possession. The result marked the third shutout victory for Montrose against Hamilton this season, following 6-0 and 2-0 wins. Montrose lost its previous match 2-1 to Motherwell LFC on May 10.
