GETAFE, Spain (Interstat) — Getafe opened its La Liga season with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

Luis Vázquez gave the hosts an early lead with a goal in the 14th minute. The match remained a tense, one-goal affair until second-half stoppage time, when substitute Martín Satriano sealed the win with a goal in the 90th minute.

Athletic Bilbao, which finished with four yellow cards, was held scoreless. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that forecast a 1-1 draw, though its system heavily favored Getafe to win. The victory gives Getafe a winning start to the campaign across all competitions, while Athletic Bilbao begins with a loss.
