Palermo vs Catanzaro

PALERMO, Italy (Interstat) — Palermo hosts Catanzaro on Friday, May 1, in a Serie B clash that pits two teams trending in opposite directions.

Palermo (currently without a win in its last two) comes off a 3-1 home loss to Savoia on April 26, a result that snapped a brief two-game winning streak. The Sicilian side had previously beaten Vibonese 3-2 and Cesena 2-0, but those wins were sandwiched between a 1-1 draw at Reggiana and a 3-0 loss to CastrumFavara. Overall, Palermo has struggled for consistency, alternating wins with defeats and draws across its last 10 outings. The team has managed only three clean sheets in that span, with two of those coming at home.

Catanzaro, meanwhile, enters the match on a high after a 4-2 win over Spezia on April 25. That victory was only its second in the past seven games, but the Calabrian side has been difficult to beat, drawing four of its last six. A 1-0 win at Cittadella on March 22 and a 3-1 victory over Padova on March 14 highlight Catanzaro’s ability to grind out results. However, a 3-1 loss at Cesena on March 21 and a 1-1 deadlock at Juve Stabia on April 18 show vulnerability on the road.

The most recent head-to-head meeting, on Oct. 25, 2025, saw Catanzaro edge Palermo 1-0 in Calabria. That result extended Catanzaro’s recent dominance: the sides have split their last four Serie B encounters, with each team winning once and two ending in draws.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, a scoreline that would reflect both teams’ recent form. Palermo has scored exactly once in three of its last four home matches, while Catanzaro has netted two or more in three of its last five away games — but also conceded in four of those five.

Palermo’s next two fixtures take them on the road: at Ragusa on Sunday, May 3, and at Venezia on Friday, May 8. Catanzaro’s schedule beyond Friday was not immediately available.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. local time at Stadio Renzo Barbera. The match will be streamed on DAZN.

Both teams sit mid-table in Serie B. A win for either side would provide a late-season boost, while a draw would likely leave both still looking up at the playoff places.
