CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA, Italy (Interstat) — Juve Stabia and Catanzaro opened their Serie B campaigns with a 1-1 draw Saturday at Stadio Comunale Romeo Menti.

Catanzaro midfielder Nicola Mosti opened the scoring in the 18th minute. The visitors held that lead until the 88th minute, when Juve Stabia substitute Federico Di Francesco netted the equalizer. Di Francesco was assisted by fellow substitute Tommaso Cassandro, while Mosti’s goal came via an assist from Emanuele Torrasi.

Both Torrasi and Cassandro received yellow cards in the second half. The result defied pre-match projections, as statistical models heavily favored a Catanzaro victory. The draw leaves both clubs with identical early season records across all competitions.
