Modena vs Frosinone

MODENA, Italy (Interstat) — Substitute forward Farés Ghedjemis delivered a stunning second-half performance, scoring two goals and adding an assist to propel Frosinone to a 2-1 comeback victory over Modena in a Serie B match Saturday at Stadio Alberto Braglia.

The result extends Frosinone’s unbeaten run in Italy’s second division to 18 matches, solidifying their formidable form this season. Modena, despite a spirited start, saw a promising home performance unravel in a decisive 19-minute span after halftime.

Playing before a home crowd, Modena seized the initiative late in the first half. Midfielder Yanis Massolin broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, finishing an assist from forward Edoardo Colpo to give the hosts a deserved lead at the interval. The goal energized the home side, which had entered the match seeking consistency after a mixed run of results.

The complexion of the match changed dramatically following the intermission. Frosinone manager introduced Ghedjemis as a substitute, a decision that proved immediately transformative. Just seven minutes after entering the fray, Ghedjemis announced his impact. He found the equalizer in the 52nd minute, finishing a play set up by fellow substitute Giorgio Cittadini.

Ghedjemis was not finished. Eight minutes later, in the 60th minute, he completed the turnaround, netting his second goal of the match to give Frosinone a 2-1 lead. The assist was credited to midfielder Simone Santoro. Ghedjemis then turned provider, setting up Massolin for what would have been his second goal, but the finish was ruled out for offside, a decision that spared Modena from a larger deficit.

The frantic second half was punctuated by a flurry of disciplinary actions. The match official issued seven yellow cards in total, with five coming after the 74th minute as Modena’s frustration grew. Ghedjemis himself was booked in the 74th minute, joined by teammates Giorgi Kvernadze, Gabriele Calvani and Santoro in the referee’s notebook. Modena’s Manuel De Luca, Colpo and Cittadini also received cautions.

The victory improves Frosinone’s Serie B record to 13 wins, five draws and zero losses, a streak of remarkable consistency. Their overall record across all competitions now stands at 15 wins, five draws and one loss. The defeat leaves Modena with a 12-7-6 record in league play and a 12-9-6 mark overall.

The outcome defied the pre-match projections from Interstat, whose game simulator had predicted a 1-1 draw. Their ELO rating system had given Frosinone a 52.6 percent probability of victory, a figure the club exceeded with their second-half surge.

Frosinone will look to continue their unbeaten league campaign when they host Carrarese next Saturday. Modena, aiming to rebound, travels to face AC Monza next Friday.
