PADOVA, Italy (Interstat) -- Mattia Bortolussi scored in the 84th minute to deliver Padova a 1-0 victory over Empoli FC in Serie B play Sunday at Stadio Comunale Euganeo.

The forward provided the decisive moment, finishing an assist from substitute Gabriele Guarino to break a stalemate. Defender Carlo Faedo also registered an assist on the game’s only goal. Empoli failed to find a response, suffering its second consecutive 1-0 defeat.

The result improved Padova’s league record to seven wins, 10 losses and seven draws. Empoli fell to 8-12-9 in Serie B. The match was a reversal of the teams’ August meeting, a 3-1 Empoli win. Padova next hosts Reggiana on April 19, while Empoli welcomes Virtus Entella.
