ROMA (Interstat) — AS Roma opened its Serie A Women season with a 4-3 victory over FC Como Women in a frenetic match Friday at Stadio Tre Fontane.

The game exploded with three goals in a three-minute span early. Roma’s Emilie Haavi struck twice in the 26th and 28th minutes before Como’s Alex Chidiac answered a minute later. Nadine Nischler leveled for Como in the 41st, but Roma defender Winonah Heatley scored just before halftime. Evelyne Viens extended Roma’s lead early in the second half before Alayah Pilgrim’s 54th-minute goal provided the final margin for Como.

The result defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Roma. The win gives Roma a 1-0 start to the league campaign, while Como begins 0-1.
