Atipo’s Free Kick Earns Otoho Draw Against Favored Zamalek
BRAZZAVILLE, Congo (Interstat) — AS Otoho and Egypt’s Zamalek SC played to a 1-1 draw in a CAF Confederation Cup match Saturday at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Débat.
The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored the visiting side. Zamalek entered with a 75.7% probability to win, according to Interstat’s ELO system.
Otoho defender Charles Atipo opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a free-kick goal, assisted by Béranger Itoua. Zamalek’s Oday Dabbagh, a substitute, leveled the match in the 32nd minute. Itoua received a yellow card in the 44th minute.
The draw leaves Zamalek’s Confederation Cup record at 4-1-3, while Otoho moves to 5-3-2 in the competition. The simulated projection from Interstat had accurately predicted the 1-1 final score.
