QUETZALTENANGO, Guatemala (Interstat) — Xelaju earned a decisive 3-0 victory over Achuapa in Liga Nacional play on Thursday at Estadio Mario Camposeco.

Elmer Cardoza opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Harim Quezada then netted a first-half brace, finding the net in the 27th and 55th minutes to secure the win for the home side. The shutout marked a strong defensive performance for Xelaju against an Achuapa attack that was held scoreless.

The result improved Xelaju’s season record in the competition, while Achuapa’s struggles continued on the road. The outcome defied a pregame statistical projection that had forecast a draw, instead delivering a clear victory for the hosts.
