LISBON, Portugal (Interstat) — Host Benfica and rival Porto played to a 2-2 draw in a heated Primeira Liga clash Sunday at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Porto’s Victor Froholdt opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Benfica’s Oskar Pietuszewski equalized before halftime. Andreas Schjelderup put Benfica ahead in the 69th, only for Porto substitute Leandro Barreiro Martins to secure the dramatic draw in the 88th.

The match was marred by discipline issues, featuring nine yellow cards. Benfica defender Nicolás Otamendi received a red card in the 90th minute. Both teams opened their league campaigns with a draw, defying pregame projections that heavily favored Benfica.
