ALVERCA DO RIBATEJO, Portugal (Interstat) — Alverca and AVS Futebol played to a 0-0 draw in a Primeira Liga match Saturday at Campo Futebol Clube Alverca.

The result did little to aid either side’s standing. Alverca moved to 5-10-6 in league play, while AVS Futebol’s struggles continued as it sits at 1-15-7. The match failed to live up to the statistical projection of a 2-1 Alverca victory.

Defender Isaac James logged a key performance for the hosts. The contest was marked by physical play, with four yellow cards issued. Mateus Pivô was booked in the 12th minute, followed by cautions for Guilherme Neiva Silva, Isaac James and Tiago Galletto.

Both teams had recent encounters with top-tier opponents, with AVS Futebol falling to Benfica and Alverca drawing with Vitoria SC in their previous league fixtures.
