SC Villa vs UPDF FC
KAMPALA, Uganda (Interstat) — SC Villa hosts UPDF FC on Saturday, May 23, in a Uganda Super League matchup that pits the league’s second-place team against a mid-table side struggling to find consistency.
SC Villa enters the contest having won three of its past four league matches, a stretch that has solidified its hold on a top-two position. The home side last played April 22, a 1-0 win at Lugazi FC. That result followed a 1-1 draw with Vipers on April 15 and a 1-0 victory over KCCA on April 11. Villa’s overall season includes standout performances such as a 6-1 demolition of Mbarara City on Jan. 28 and a 2-0 shutout of Entebbe on March 14. However, the club has also stumbled, including a 1-0 loss to Uganda Police FC on March 10 and a 2-1 defeat at BUL FC on Jan. 23.
UPDF FC, meanwhile, has struggled to find the net in recent outings. The visiting side played to a 0-0 draw with Calvary on Tuesday, its second consecutive clean-sheet stalemate after a scoreless result against Uganda Revenue Authority FC on April 24. The army-backed team’s last win came April 21, a 5-2 thrashing of BUL FC, but that remains an outlier. Since then, UPDF FC has managed one goal in four matches, losing 1-0 to Express Sports on April 15 and falling 2-1 to Vipers on March 11. The club’s overall record includes multiple low-scoring affairs: scoreless draws with Maroons (March 14), Buhimba United Saints (Feb. 13) and a 1-1 tie with Kitara on March 6.
Saturday’s fixture will be the second meeting between the sides this season. In the most recent head-to-head, on Nov. 25, 2025, SC Villa won 1-0 at UPDF FC. That result extended Villa’s recent dominance; the home side has not lost to UPDF FC in their past three league encounters.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end 1-0 in favor of SC Villa.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. local time at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
